ICF-recognised mentor coaching for coaches working toward ACC, PCC, or MCC credentials. Ten hours of targeted, competency-based coaching development over a minimum of three months.

About mentor coaching

Mentor coaching is a structured development process designed to sharpen your coaching skills in direct alignment with the ICF core competencies. The ICF defines it as a dialogue of coaching and feedback in a collaborative and appreciative manner, based on observed or recorded coaching sessions.

It is typically required as part of the ICF credential application process for ACC, PCC, and MCC level credentials. The ICF specifies a minimum of 10 hours over at least three months, combining group and one-to-one sessions to ensure both breadth of feedback and sustained skill development.

Whether your mentor coaching is included within an accredited coach training programme or arranged separately to meet ICF requirements, the outcome is the same: deeper self-awareness, stronger coaching presence, and practical competence grounded in your actual coaching work.

It is delivered by our expert coaching faculty.

What the programme includes

Your mentor coaching combines group sessions with three individual one-to-one sessions, each one hour in length. Sessions are booked directly with your allocated mentor coach.

  1. Group mentor coaching sessions

Review and deepen your understanding of the ICF core competencies through case studies, live coaching practice, and peer feedback. Group sessions build breadth and provide a range of perspectives on your developing practice.

  2. Three one-to-one mentor coaching sessions

Work closely with your allocated mentor coach to review recordings of your coaching sessions with coachees. Receive personalised feedback and guidance tailored directly to your skills and the ICF competency framework.

  3. Competency-aligned feedback

All feedback is grounded in the ICF core competencies. You develop a clear, evidence-based picture of where your coaching is strong and where targeted development will make the most difference.

  4. Credential readiness

The programme is structured to meet the ICF mentor coaching requirements for ACC, PCC, and MCC applications. On completion you will have the documented hours and competency evidence needed for your credential submission.

Mentor coaching and supervision: the difference

Mentor coaching and coaching supervision serve different purposes. Understanding the distinction helps you choose the right development at the right stage of your practice.

Mentor coaching
  • Focused on ICF core competencies and credential requirements
  • Based on observed or recorded coaching sessions
  • Combines individual and group feedback formats
  • Structured to meet ICF credentialing standards
Coaching supervision
  • Oriented toward reflection and holistic professional development
  • Explores personal coaching challenges and dilemmas
  • Nurtures coach identity and resilience over time
  • Less about compliance, more about self-awareness

In short: mentor coaching builds your capability in alignment with professional standards. Supervision nurtures your reflective capacity and coach identity across the longer arc of your practice.

Who mentor coaching is for

Mentor coaching is for coaches at any stage who are working toward an ICF credential, including ACC, PCC, and MCC. It is also for professionals who want competency-based coaching development aligned with ICF standards, regardless of whether they are currently pursuing a credential.

It suits coaches coming through an accredited training programme as well as those managing their credential journey independently. If you need to meet the ICF mentor coaching requirement or want structured, evidence-based feedback on your actual coaching practice, this programme provides both.
