Advanced Coaching Pathway: Coaching Senior Leaders

Coaching senior leaders calls for confidence, presence, credibility and the ability to work with complexity. This pathway helps you develop all of those qualities in a practical, expert-led programme grounded in real executive coaching experience.

Drawing on the work of skilled executive coaches, you will explore how to support senior and very senior leaders with clarity, challenge, partnership and depth. You will develop approaches for working with strategic choices, influence, impact, system-level challenges and the particular demands of leadership responsibility at the top of organisations.

TPC Leadership has 30 years of experience coaching senior leaders across global organisations. This pathway draws directly on that depth of practice. It is designed to help you show up with confidence and make a meaningful difference in high-stakes leadership contexts.

What the pathway covers

Over two days you develop the specific knowledge, tools and personal presence required to coach senior and very senior leaders well, working with frameworks drawn from experienced executive coaches.

  • Building confidence and credibility with senior leaders
Learn how to build and project genuine confidence and credibility when working with senior and very senior leaders. Understand what senior leaders look for in a coach, how the coaching relationship differs at this level, and how to establish the kind of presence that earns the trust of clients who are used to being the most capable person in the room.
  • Understanding what senior leaders need from coaching
Develop practical approaches for understanding the distinct needs of senior leaders, including challenge, partnership, honest reflection and strategic perspective. Learn how to calibrate your coaching approach for clients who have significant experience, strong self-concept and limited time, while maintaining the depth and rigour that makes coaching valuable at this level.
  • Supporting leaders through complexity, ambiguity and system-level challenges
Learn techniques for supporting senior leaders as they navigate organisational complexity, strategic ambiguity and challenges that have no clear right answer. Develop your ability to hold the systemic dimension of a leader's situation and help them think through challenges that go well beyond personal development.
  • Working with strategic vision, influence, presence and impact
Develop tools for working with the dimensions of leadership that matter most at senior level: strategic vision, organisational influence, leadership presence and the impact a leader has on the system around them. Learn how to help leaders develop these qualities in ways that are authentic and grounded rather than performative.
  • Creating relational connection and psychological safety with senior clients
Learn how to create genuine relational connection and psychological safety with clients who may be used to not showing vulnerability and who operate in environments where honesty has costs. Develop the quality of presence and trust-building that enables senior leaders to bring their real challenges to coaching rather than a curated version of them.
  • Supporting reflection, communication and clarity of leadership
Develop ways to support senior leaders to communicate more effectively, reflect more deeply and lead with greater clarity and confidence. Learn how to help leaders reconnect with what they are doing and why at the moments when the complexity of the role can obscure their own thinking.

You will leave with

  • Greater confidence and credibility when working with senior and very senior leaders
  • A clear understanding of what senior leaders need from coaching and how to provide it
  • Techniques for supporting leaders through complexity, ambiguity and system-level challenges
  • Tools for working with strategic vision, influence, presence and organisational impact
